Future Development in Leesburg

9 months

The Town of Leesburg is expected to grow significantly in the coming years. Government officials anticipate more than 15,000 new people, 6,000 new employees, and 3 million square feet of new non-residential development (a mix of office, retail, and industrial). That's a lot of growth, and there needs to be a well thought out plan for where everything might go!

Participants at the community workshop were asked to place LEGO® bricks on a map of the Town to indicate preferred locations for future growth. The exercise used different color bricks to represent places to live, shop, work, and play in the community. Now it's your turn to play a simpler version of the same game online. Please click on the map to indicate places you would like to see the following:

  • Places for future residents to live (Yellow)
  • Places for future residents to shop (Red)
  • Places for future residents to work (Blue)
  • Places for future parks (Dark Green)
  • Places to mix these uses into one cohesive, walkable development (Purple)
  • Places to preserve (Light Green)
Be sure to tell us why you think the location you picked is appropriate for the different types of development using the comment field on the left. Feel free to upload a photo to go along with your comment. Place as many dots as you like. There's no limit!

Your thoughts and opinions will be shared with the project team for developing the future land use map for Leesburg that will be included in the Town Plan.
